For 50 years, Knox County has struggled to develop a sound economic base to support livable incomes for all our residents. Two foundations of a 21st-century economy are clean energy and universal broadband. These were top priorities for me during my first terms on the County Board from 2016-22. Since leaving the Board, I have continued to work to expand high-speed internet in the County. These will be top priorities for me if re-elected. I will also work closely with the Knox County Area Project for Economic Development (KCAP) to bring more smart, sustainable industry to the County.

All residents of Knox County should be able to be confident that their tax dollars are being responsibly invested for the good of the County. Too often this is not the case. If elected, I will push to see that fair and transparent procedures are followed in the awarding of contracts and other significant expenses. Also that materials are made available to the public in advance of County Board meetings, so people are adequately informed and have the opportunity to make their perspectives known.

We live in a time of deep political division. This is not new, but media saturation has turned up the volume of our disagreements to the point that it severely impedes our ability to work together to carry out the people's business. I have priorities and values that I take seriously, but I pledge that, if elected, I will pursue them with calmness and deliberation. And I will work hard to promote a working culture of civility that will make our County Board more effective and productive.
